Since 2012, LifeWise STL and Guardian Angel Settlement Association have hosted a back-to-school event at our neighborhood school, Peabody Elementary. We distribute new shoes, backpacks and school supplies to the families each organization serves throughout the year. Thanks to the generosity of donors, over 400 kids are able to start the school year prepared and excited! The event is a complement to our holistic programming that empowers families towards economic mobility.

Due to COVID-19, we have restructured how this event will be conducted so that staff, volunteers and families alike can be safe and healthy. Similar to years past, we will distribute new shoes, backpacks and school supplies to the families LifeWise STL serves throughout the year. Different from years past, we will assemble materials in advance and they will be picked up curbside. Volunteers are needed (throughout the week of August 10-15th) to prep the assembly space, assemble the backpacks, package backpacks and shoes according to family unit, and “run” the packages from our building to families’ cars. Have fun and help kids to start the school year off right at this Back-to-School event!
